For a temporary museum exhibition at Museum Het Schip about the Dienst der Publieke Werken of the municipality of Amsterdam, architect and graphic designer Antonello Livrano designed the layout of the exhibition space.
Publieke Werken and the Amsterdam School are inextricably linked. Starting in 1910, the municipal Dienst der Publieke Werken decided to engage a number of architects and artists who would later become prominent figures within the Amsterdam School, such as Joan van der Meij, Michel de Klerk, Piet Kramer, and Hildo Krop. The architects created beautiful designs for government buildings, schools, and bridges, and even paid great attention to street furniture. These architectural and artistic works can still be admired throughout Amsterdam.
The exhibition showcased the most beautiful photos of the architecture and art of the Publieke Werken and the Amsterdam School. Original artworks and drawings by the most important architects were also on display. Additionally, the platform Wendingen organized a photo competition with Museum Het Schip. The winning photos are featured in the exhibition.
We were tasked with developing and technically constructing the cardboard exhibition walls. The result is interconnected exhibition walls made of cardboard, arches to walk through, including single and double-sided printed cardboard walls.
